WW1-themed MMO shooter for PC
Beyond the Wire is a premium action game for PC developed by Redstone Interactive. It is a multiplayer first-person shooter that features a WW1 theme. In it, players will be able to engage in large-scale battles with up to 100 participants at the same time.
Similar to Battlefield 1 or Hell Let Loose, Beyond the Wire takes place during The Great War and takes players back to one of the most bloody events in history. They will take part in various events that happened at the time and witness the chaos and brutality that ensued.
In the trenches
Beyond the Wire is a large-scale multiplayer first-person shooter that will allow you to participate in 50v50 player battles. Set on the Western front during The Great War, you will navigate large open maps filled with muddy and bloody trenches. You will do whatever you can to slowly move forward and push the opposing side back in a brutal exchange of bullets and explosives.
Placing great emphasis on historical accuracy, the weapons in Beyond the Wire are all based on real-life models that feature unique gun mechanics and characteristics. It also features a unique melee system that serves as the last option when your ammo runs out—an accurate interpretation considering the type of guns available back then. All of this, while trying to contend with tight corners and narrow passages.
Given the scale of the battles, the game encourages proper teamwork for you to communicate your strategies and gain an edge in the fight. One thing of note, though, is the steady decline of active players as of late. Your experience while playing it will be highly variable given this situation, and the fact that it is still just in early access.
Brutal and bloody
The Great War was a brutal and bloody time in the history of man, and Beyond the Wire does well at depicting that. The gameplay is fast-paced, engaging, and unpredictable given the scale of battles and the number of players involved. If you like MMO shooters and want to experience something set during WWI, give this one a try. Recommended.
